DEGIS stands for Deutsche Gesellschaft internationaler Studierender – or German Association for International Students – and is a recognized non-profit organization that is building the largest community for international students in Germany.
The organization was founded at the end of 2019 by Alex Ruthemeier, Tim Meyer, and Dominic Otto, who were already business partners in a business called Expatrio. Besides already offering solutions to enhance international students’ experience, the German trio missed an important element to be provided: community.
With the sole purpose of connecting international students across the country, DEGIS was created. Since then, we have been offering a space for exchange by organizing exceptional events – ranging from network parties to seminars and receptions with experts from society, politics, and business, connecting a unique network of like-minded people, opening doors to the German job market, and much more. While doing so, we are always aiming to think out of the box and to stay on the pulse of time by addressing our core values.
DEGIS is not only about politics, career, and education though. DEGIS provides international students with support before and during their stay in Germany. By offering international students the opportunity to take part in exclusive workshops, volunteer at one of many City Chapters across Germany, and participate in its Buddy Program, DEGIS empowers international students to succeed in Germany.
